Jan Pawlikowski's instruments are played by concertmasters
and leading players in many of Poland' and Europe's
top professional and state orchestras. An excellent
violist (conservatory-trained) in his youth, he has
used that knowledge into creating instruments that have
remarkable tone, response, and projection, as well as
great beauty in workmanship and varnish.
Mr. Pawlikowski's instruments have been awarded many
prizes including a first prize for a cello in Poznan,
Poland in 1979; a special prize for the highest score
for two instruments together at the Wieniawski International
Violin Maker's Competition in Poznan in 1981; and a
bronze medal for a violin at the International Violin
Maker's Competition in Sofia,
Bulgaria in 1983.
Today he is active as a juror of
national and international violin making competitions
in Poznan, Hrádéc Králové
(Czech Republic), Prague and Moscow. He supplies each
instrument with a certificate and a case from the Polish
firm Artonus. He is considered by many to be the best
violin-family instrument maker in Poland today. Mr.
Pawlikowski makes violins (Stradivari and Guarneri del
Gesu models), violas (Amati and Stradivari models) and
violoncellos (Gagliano, Gofriller and Montagnana models). |
