| The Polish violin maker, Wojciech
Lukasz, is one of central Europe's greatest living
masters. Many leading orchestral, operatic players
as well as soloists own his instruments. One such
professional is Mads Tolling, the violist for the
Turtle Island String Quartet, who owns a violin made
by Mr. Lukasz.
Mr. Lukasz has won the following prizes/medals in
various international violin-making competitions:
Gold medal in Moscow Competition (1998)
Gold medal for tone in Nachod, Czech Republic (1997)
Finalist in Mittenwald (Germany) Competition (1993,
1997)
Finalist in Wieniawski Competition (Poznan, Poland)
