Milan Oubrecht

Lubos Oubrecht

Mr. Milan Oubrecht lives and works in beautiful southwest Bohemia (near the German border) where he teaches bowmaking and makes bows on commission for some of Europe's most prestigious artists, including Prague's Panocha Quartet and members of the world-famous Czech Philharmonic Orchestra.

His outstanding pernambuco bows are characterized by their distinctive tip design, great flexibility, fine balance (including an effortless and uniquely Czech spiccato) and wonderful tone.

Mr. Milan Oubrecht favors round sticks, imitation whalebone windings, and bone or mastodon tip plates. His frogs are particularly elegant, featuring beautiful mother-of-pearl with his distinctive insignia carved into the ebony.

His son, Lubos, is also a distinguished bow maker, and is already achieving a reputation equal to that of his famous father.
