We are proud to offer our customers German, Czech,
Hungarian, and Romanian violins from the late 19th
and early 20th century that have been restored and
re-graduated by some of the best masters of this art
in Central Europe.
These instruments feature new bass bars, sound posts,
bridges and first-class fittings. Each has also had
its original varnish restored to enhance and preserve
the maker's original conceptions of color and shadings.
Our German/Czech violins are hand-selected in Bohemia
and the border region between Germany and the Czech
Republic (as well as in Hungary and Romania). Many have
remarkable wood (especially the Bosnian maple), which
in some cases surpasses the quality of maple one can
acquire today. Our luthiers re-carve the plates to bring
these instruments to their maximum potential. They are
ideal for professionals wanting a second instrument,
or intermediate and advanced students, and are priced
between $1,500-2,400. Please inquire about availability.
