MATTHIAS ALBANI
Violin by Atthias Albani. Matthias Albani (1634 – 1712) was active in Bolzano, South Tyrol in northern Italy. Next to Stainer, he is the most famous Tyrolean violin maker. His work shares many stylistic features with the work of Jacob Stainer. Albani chose his wood very carefully and used elastic varnish which shows Italian characteristics.
