Blue Danube Violins is an Austrian company based in Vienna, with long experience and expertise serving discerning customers. We represent several modern violin makers/masters from countries such as Romania, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, and others, whose violins can be tested in our shop. Over the years, our clientele has grown and we are now proud to have, besides a faithful local clientele, a large international family. Our shop is visited year-round by musicians and music lovers from all over the world and it gives us great pleasure to know our instruments are being played everywhere. For customers who cannot visit our shop, but want to purchase an instrument from Vienna, we are experienced in helping you select the best instrument and/or bow using audio and video clips, photos, etc.

Each violin in our shop has its own story!
Each violin, viola and cello have their own history and destiny. Because of our location, we are able to find and offer for sale instruments and bows that belonged to amazing players or that have an interesting history. Sometimes we also have violins that are a total mystery.
Luthiers have been hand-crafting instruments and bows in these regions of Europe for hundreds of years and distinct and important national and regional schools have evolved. The wood from Bosnia, the Dolomites in northeastern Italy and southern Austria, and the Carpathian and Tatra mountains in Romania and Slovakia has long been prized for its desirability for stringed instruments.
Our modern European makers enjoy significant international reputations; their instruments and bows have won awards for workmanship and tone and are played by many of the world’s leading chamber musicians, solo artists and orchestral musicians.

WE IDENTIFY THE BEST MAKERS AND HAND-SELECT THEIR FINEST WORK FOR YOU
A violinist himself, Anthony Armoré, together with leading concertmasters, principal players, and soloists from the region, plays and hand-selects each instrument or bow before acquiring it for our customers. Many of our instruments are prize-winners (especially for tone) in competitions organized in these countries. Mr. Armoré frequently conducts professional orchestras in Europe and his discussions with string players and other artists lead him to the best makers. Each instrument and bow is evaluated for quality of tone, workmanship and value. This is also true for our student and intermediate-line items.
