ORESTO MARTINI
Violin made by Oresto Martini of Mantua. Dated 1948. One-piece maple back, slub cut, holding an irregular figure throughout. The ribs are of similar wood to that of the back. Spruce top, two pieces, mostly medium witdth grain throughout, though varied. Original scroll, quarter cut maple holding a mostly narrow flame. The varnish is rich red-orange color over a golden brown ground.
