Balázs Gollob is a Hungarian master violin maker living and working in Budapest. Born in 1971, he began his professional studies in 1989 under the guidance of Károly Bősz and in 1991 he gained a degree in string instruments making and repairing. Between 1993 and 1995 he worked as an assistant to Master Pál Sáránszky and during the period 1995 – 1997 studied at the International Violin Making School of Cremona (IPIALL) with the Giorgio Scolari. Since 1997 he works in his own workshop in Budapest.
Balázs Gollob makes modern and baroque violins, violas and cellos, as well as baroque bows. His instruments are played by professionals, music students and amateurs alike both in Hungary and abroad. He restores instruments for the Hungarian orchestras, such as the Hungarian State Opera, Budapest Festival Orchestra, Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra, Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra, Pannon Philharmonic Orchestra, among others.
