Bringing your own instruments for repairs and restorations is possible.
Materials are included in the costs, except ebony accessories, bridges and strings, which will be paid extra at the wholesale price of international dealers.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
The course includes advanced instruction in:
– wood selection, tool maintenance & sharpening;
– gluing & repairing cracks, exchanging blocks;
– exchanging bass bar, replacing sound post;
– neck replacement & ribs repair;
– fingerboard replacement & pegs sharpening;
– bushing peg holes opening & closing the instrument;
– varnish retouch & white instruments varnish;
– loop & tailpiece exchange, bridge exchange & fitting;
Participants will be supplied with:
– wood selection kits for violins, viola or cello
– the use of plains, vices, workbench, bending iron, clamps, chisels, knives, etc.
– disposable or perishable items such as glues, varnish ingredients, brushes, etc.
The participants will be allowed to keep the instruments they make and the wood included
in the kit.
TRANSPORTATION. The ground transport from and to the Cluj-Napoca Airport is provided.
ACCOMMODATION. Shared accommodation in Regin will be arranged by the organizers in two-bedroom apartments situated approximately 1.2 km away from the workshop. The 3-star apartments are equipped with kitchen, bathroom and high-speed WIFI.
Photos & video footage may be taken for archives and instructional reference during any point
during the course by participants.
